Wolf narrowly misses first Oxford show

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 26, 2008

Despite a steadily improving car throughout the day, Ricky Wolf was unable to qualify for the Oxford Plains Speedway 150-lap race on Saturday, April 26.

Ricky recalls the day's events...

"We failed to make the Oxford Plains Speedway Show (OPS). Ultimately, qualifying for the 150 lap event was our goal. We had an excellent effort, just fell a bit short the first time around. The track is flat, and very different than anything I have ever been on. That being said, we got in a lot of laps in practice, and improved each time out. I liked the track a lot. There were 50 cars there again (for 30 spots), and a lot of local (weekly racing) talent attempting to qualify as well.

We started 8th in the 3rd heat, and worked our way up to fifth, racing on the outside of Rick Thompson, Jr. in the #8NH for the final 5 or 6 laps eventually just nipping him at the line. It was clean, hard racing with a little give and take exhibited by each of us.

We started on the outside pole in the Consolation Race, but got freight-trained back in the outside groove, finishing a disappointing 7th or 8th.

Our Last Chance Race had us lined up 11th, and we moved up to 7th or 8th, but it was not good enough (they were taking the top 4 finishers) to get us in. We also missed a provisional starting spot by two positions.

All in all I think we performed well, and learned a few things that should help us improve a bunch for our return trip the next time around. We need to get better here, as we race OPS three more times this summer.

We are off to the Thunder Road Speedbowl in Barre, VT, this Saturday and Sunday, May 3rd and 4th. Practice happens Saturday afternoon, with qualifying and the running of the Merchants Bank 150 on Sunday. This race will be another huge challenge for our team, as I have never competed at Thunder Road in my career. I am excited to have the opportunity to race at this famous 1/4 mile bullring. We know it will not be easy, but we expect to be competitive in our bid to qualify for this race.

Thank you for all of the support we have received from both fellow competitors, and our loyal fans at each of the first two events so far this year."
